Statement by Mike Leavitt, Secretary of Health and Human Services, on the Nomination of Ben Sasse to be the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation

I am pleased that the President has nominated Ben Sasse to be Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE).  Serving as one of my counselors, Ben has provided sound guidance on a broad scope of important policy matters and has overseen the Department’s strategy to accelerate the adoption of health information technology nationally.  He will bring to this new role a wide-range of experience from the executive and legislative branches and the private sector, as well as strong leadership skills and expertise.
